Paris Chinatown

Paris Chinatown

Whenever I travel to another country I always try to visit the Chinatown of the cities I go. So the above photo is Paris’ version of Chinatown. Ok so it’s quite small compared to Melbourne & Sydney but I kind of expected it. It is quite hidden and is parallel to the bustling touristy Champs Elysees (the main Shopping Street of Paris).

Ok so you’re in a Chinatown and you’re hungry, what do you do? Search for a tasty chinese restaurant of course! :P It was pretty dark and we were weaving in and out looking for something that was decent and that was actually opened.

Finally we find a restaurant. I forget the name of it but it was very cosy. They thought we were from Asia and was suprise when I told them I was from Australia, perhaps not many aussies of asian decent comes through there often? Who knows. What I do know is that the food was awesome! So yumm!

The chinese food was pretty good although there was a bit of twist on how they cook certain dishes. We had:

  • Duck cooked in five spice served with bean shoots

  • Steam fish with ginger and spring onions
Steam fish fillet (instead your typical whole fish)

  • Honey chicken with a twist (spicy chilli, pepper and onion mixed) – it was really nice

Paris chinatown is not at all here, the two main chinatowns are in the 13th arrondissements (southeast) and in Belleville (northeast).
These place are quite far from the Champs Elysees.
