Mai in front of Arc De Triomphe
You know I thought driving in Japan or London was crazy, the Arc De Triomphe’s roundabout in Paris though, wins hands down. That must be the biggest “un-governed” roundabout I have ever seen. While I was on it in a taxi, I literally feared for my life when a bus headed straight towards us. I lived, but it was a close one.
If you look at the photo above I must have witnessed close to 20 “close shaves” the fact that there were no accidents boggles the mind. Unlike Australia I was told by the taxi driver that you must give way to all traffic in the roundabout, and with so much traffic every entrance is a risk. Though there are enough lanes for about 6 there are no lane lines which makes things all the more difficult.
All I can say is I’m glad I didn’t have to drive.
The Arc De Triomphe and roundout photos:

I spent a good 20 minutes enjoying this crazy roundabout traffic in front of Arc De Triomphe
