If you are looking for the best laksa in Melbourne, look no further as I have done the ‘hardwork’ for you. The place is Laksa King, and with a name like that they’d better live up to to it and that they do, with flying colors.
For those who do not know what Laksa is – Laksa is a spices that is used to make a Laksas, usually cooked in a coconut curry-ish broth, poured over yellow egg noodle, rice noodle, boiled egg pieces, fish cakes, prawns, chickens, eggplants, fried tofu (to soak up all the nice broth) sprinkle with coriander, spring onions and deep fried shallots. What makes Laksa King’s Laksas the best is:
- The broth – so fragrant made with good stock, it is also not too rich but creamy enough with a hint of mint for freshness.
- Fresh ingredients used – from seafood, noodles, tofus, you name it
- Great price – Laksa King serves you 2 types of Laksa, Chicken Laksa for the price of AU$8.50 and Seafood Laksa (prawns, squids) for the price of AU$9.50
- Originality – Only Laksa King let you add some cockles (for a small price) to your Laksa. How Authentic is that
?

Laksa King's Seafood Laksa - full of goodness
Anyhow, Laksa King not only just serves the best Laksa, they also serve a couple of my favourite dishes.
- Roti Chicken Roll – Grilled chicken with cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes drizzled with satay sauce and wrapped in Malaysian flaky Roti (Roti Paratha)

Laksa King's Roti Chicken Roll - worth sharing as entree or by itself as your meal
- Crispy Roast Chicken Rice – deep fried chicken served with hainanese chicken rice, pickles, soy sauce and garlic chilli condiment.

Roast Chicken Rice -a different twist to your ordinary hainanese chicken rice
Laksa King is located at Flemington which is approximately 10 minutes drive from Melbourne CBD, or a short train ride from Melbourne city (nearest station is Newmarket then followed by a short10 minutes walk). You can also catch a tram number 57 from Elizabeth St, Melbourne. The Flemington Racecourse is about 5 minutes walk. Do not be fooled by the place, I highly recommend you make a reservation if you plan to go on Saturday nights. They are closed on Sundays. Let me know what you think!
