I’d like to dedicate a post just for the Berlin Wall during my recent visit to the city. The Berlin Wall divided East and West Berlin still exist till this day. Some are in a form of ruins, others are still intact with a modern twist where part of the Wall is painted by artist and is known as the East Side Gallery.

Only people in the West Berlin can visit family and friends at East Berlin by crossing the famous Charlie’s Checkpoint. There are numerous attempts to cross the wall in any which way including jumping off from high buildings.

The Berlin Wall resulted in instant division of friends and family for more than 28 years after it was first erected in 1961. The Wall was finally tore down in 1989.
