I really enjoyed my trip to Budapest. There were more things to do and see than I expected. It’s ashame that it’s not visited more often than other countries that’s located in Western Europe (Budapest is located in Eastern Europe) cause they’d have a ball of a time!
Budapest is an interesting city. It went through different political eras from the Facism era, Nazism and Communism. This can be can be seen from the way people lived and the surrounding buildings. Business and tourism thrived the moment the communism era ended. After that people were able to own their own businesses and aspire to a better life. Here are some interesting places to visit and things to do:
- Head up via finocular to the Castle hill to see Budapest Castle and get a great view of the Budapest Gothic style Parliament and city from the birds eye view.
- Take a relaxing thermal bath at historic Gellert Hotel
- Visit some of the museums and galleries at the Heroes Square
- Take a stroll at World Heritage (UNESCO) Anderson Boulevard
- Learn about the country’s dark past at The House of Terror
- People watch and have a cup of coffee at grandeur peaceful Lukas Cafe
- Shop for souvenirs at pedestrian only street of Vaci Utca or visit food and craft market at the Great Central Market (Vasarcsarnok)
- Walk around the city, along the river Danube and cross the famous chained bridge (Szechenyi) or many Budapest bridges.
