Historic Gellert Hotel
During the 2 day of my Budapest trip, I decided to stayed at the Gellert Danubius Hotel. It was recommended by a colleague of mine so I thought why not. Gellert hotel is a historical hotel built in 1916 and it has its own thermal bath. If you stay in the hotel you get access to the bath for free.
Gellert Hotel is nicely decorated in Hungarian Art Nouveau style which takes you back in time. The hotel also has spacious modern room with balcony. My room was facing the River Danube and looked very magical day or night. The room has a high ceiling and is also decorated in a grandeur style. If you go during summer or end of summer, ensure you ask for an extra airconditioner or fan since it can be quite warm.
Gellert hotel is also equipped with a really nice restaurant (Gellert Braisserie) which specialises in Hungarian Cuisine. The hotel also has a cafe with nice outdoor seating areas, perfect for nice afternoon tea/cakes and people watching.
Budapest is a walking city thus the location of Gellert hotel makes it close to walk to the castle district and to the Grand Central Market Vasarcsanok which is located just 7 minutes across the Szabasdag bridge and from there you could walk everywhere.
