Mai Lin and a bearded dragon
The Alice Springs Reptile Park is located in the heart of Alice Springs town at Northern Territory, Australia. I have to admit I didn’t think much of it and only went to kill time. I guess I was comparing it to the other parks I was going to be going to, ie Crocsaurus Cove, Crocodylus Park, etc etc
The Alice Springs Reptile Park proved to be a fabulous experience! There were plenty of reptiles on show and just seeing the huge perentie lizards and thorny devils was worth the prize of admission.
In there, I also saw Olive Phytons which can live up to 50 years and some native Australian lizards such as:
- Thorny Devil – eats up to 5000 ants in a day
- Bearded Dragon – eats by the movement of its prey (cockroaches)
- Frilled Neck Lizard
- Goannas
- Dragons
- Parenties
I have been thinking about getting a reptile license for some time now and seeing these lovely reptiles so close up has made me more excited. Keeping reptiles certainly suit my lifestyle as they require feeding only once a week.
At the moment I am thinking about a Children’s Phython (Antaresia childreni). They only grow to a maximum length of 1m. Can’t wait to feed a live mouse to it
