Katherine Gorge Cruise
There were a lot of places in Katherine that I really wanted to visit but wasn’t able to because of floodings. I really wanted to go to the Jurassic Cycad Gardens to see giant cycads plants. I would have love to also visit Cutta Cutta Caves and the thermal pools.
Luckily, the Katherine Gorge Cruise was available. Katherine Gorge is located at Nitmiluk National Park. There are 13 sandstone gorges. There are many ways to explore the gorges from bush walking (ranging from short walks to days/weeks walk), canoeing, flying over gorges or cruising. I chose the later.
I really enjoyed the cruise very much. I would recommend you wear your bathers/swim suits and take plenty of water although they do provid you with fresh water on the boat. The cruise took approximately 2 hours.
We were limited to the how far we could travel because of the floods but still managed see 2 of the beautiful gorges of the 8 were would have saw had it not been flooded. The gorges were absolutely amazing, soooo serene, so tranquil. The still water the sun and the gorges that went up 90 metres, it really did take my breathe away.
During the cruise we were able to get off and have a closer look at the gorges and some aboriginal paintings. To finish off we were taken to a waterfall where we were able to swim. Bloody awesome!

Have you ever scene the Aussie movie Rogue?
You should check it out. Great movie and great Gorge.
Yes I have actually. It was one of the reason why I really wanted to go to the NT. It really is amazing the sceneries in that movie!
