Despite having the perfect seat 5th row from the front and 2nd row behind Mirka (Roger’s Federer girlfriend) and Roger’s entourages, it was hard game to swallow after Rafael Nadal beat my hero Roger Federer (7-5, 3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-2).

It wasn’t suppose to end like that, they even had Rod Laver there ready to present him with a record equalling 14th grand slam and I was suppose to be there to wittness it.

Roger made so many errors, his serve was terrible and didn’t make the most of the break point chances he had in the 3rd set (Nadal was down 0-40 and 15-49).

What made the pill harder to swallow was the penultimate point. Some dumbass from the audience screamed ‘OUT’ in the middle of the point. This made Federer stop during the rally giving a crucial match point to Nadal. I was soooo pissed and angry that that particular moment how someone can be so ignorant.

At the end of the presentation, Roger broke down to tears.

“I love this game, it means the world to me and it hurts when you lose,” the dejected Federer said later.

“You can’t just go in the locker room and take a cold shower, take it easy - you’re stuck out there. It’s rough.”

Being an avid tennis and Roger Federer fan, whilst the lost hurt him it was’nt the reason it made him break into tears, I believe the reason was Rod Laver. I mean it wasn’t the first time he lost a slam final, also the only other time I saw him break into tears like that was the Australian Open final where he won against Marcos Baghdatis. Guess who was there to present him with the trophy? Lod laver. Rod Laver must be someone he took inspiration from and whether he won or lost, its something very emotional for him, meeting the great man.

Roger Federer, you are still my hero and one the greatest Tennis Player of all time!
