Prawns with Worchestershire Sauce

Prawns with Worchestershire Sauce

Last night I made Prawns with Worcestershire Sauce. Thought, I share the recipe with you.

Ingredients:

  • 15-20 Prawns in a shell (or shell-less if you prefer)
  • 1 brown onion
  • 2 cloves of Garlic
  • Iceberg Lettuce (I did not have any in my fridge at that time but I would recommend you serve it with the prawns for freshness and presentation)
  • 1/2 cup of Worcestershire sauce (my favourite brand is Lea and Perkins)
  • 2 tablespoon of butter/margarine
  • 3 tablespoon of tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoon of oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 3 tablespoon of white wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of chinese cooking wine or sherry or mirin
  • 2 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • Thickening sauce – a mixture of 1/4 cup water with 1 tablespoon corn flour
  • salt and pepper to season

Methods:

  • Quickly blanched/steam/boil prawns and put aside. Make sure you do not overcook it.
  • Chop onions into thin strips, chop garlics into fine pieces
  • Melt the butter/margarine in a frying pan then sweat the onion and garlic until soft.
  • put in the chinese cooking wine/mirin/sherry and stir for 10 seconds
  • put in the oyster sauce, soy sauce, tomato sauce, vinegar, sugar, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and water. Stir until everything mixed through for about 30 seconds.
  • Wait until the sauce is boiling, then stir in the Thickening Sauce (water and corn flour mixture).
  • Once the sauce is boiling and get thickened, stir in the cooked prawns to heat them up and mix them with the sauce
  • In the serving plate, lay down iceberg lettuce leaves to cover the plate. Then Serve the prawns and pour the sauce over.

I really like the prawns with the shell as you can get your hand dirty and lick your fingers while feasting :) .

Alternatively, you can substitute prawns with fried chicken (coat the chicken with flour, then deep fried them).

Bon Apetite!
