Melbourne Cheap Eats – Red Silk Restaurant and Bar
3 Comments March 4, 2009 / Posted in Food & WineAnother cheap eats worth visiting – Red Silk Restaurant and Bar, 1st Floor 200 Bourke St Melbourne.
What I like about Red Silk is the great food and licensed bar. You can enjoy a cheap lunch and dinner as well as having alcoholic drinks. Red Silk has an open kitchen which is almost a must these days especially with asian restaurants (remember mekong?). Price for one bowl/one plate meal cost and average of AU$7.70 – AU$9.00.
During lunchtime you can get a meal for AU$8.80 and then add AU$1 for a non alcoholic drink and AU$3 for beer/wine. The food tastes great and fresh. Service is a no frill thus makes it very pleasant to visit during lunch or dinner. I often go to Red Silk after the Friday night work drinks to have dinner with my mates. They have an outdoor seating with a view of Bourke Street and Melbourne skyline.
Here are some of the dishes that we had:
- Milk Tea with Pearl Sago

- Spicy Sichuan Chicken Stir Fry with steam rice

- Fried Kuey Teow (Stir fry rice noodle with seafood and chicken with soy sauce, chilli, prawn paste sauce)

- Stir Fry rice noodle with Seafood
