I had lunch at Rusty Water Brewery Restaurant and Cafe just before I visit the Koala Conservation Centre as part of my Phillip Island trip (approximately 2 hours drive from Melbourne).

They had a really good value Lunch Menu (averaging AU$15 in price). Here is what we had:

  • Cajun Chicken Risotto AU$16.90

  • Ricotta Raviolli with basil and tomato sauce AU$14.50 (This one is really nice :) )

  • Paella AU$24.50 – arborio rice cooked with saffron which contains peas, chorizo, prawns and chicken pieces (I ordered this off their dinner menu thus slightly pricier)

We called into the Rusty Water Brewery on Sunday for a drink and were contemplating having lunch there. The were 4 of us sitting at an outside table which could be clearly seen from inside. We waited 20 minutes for a menu and then an additional 30 minutes for 2 of the drink to come out. We queried where the beer samplers were and they said they had no cold glasses as they had just come out of the dishwasher and were still hot – the place was just about empty. We changed our order to 2 glasses of beer and then it took another 15 minutes for these to arrive. We paid for our drinks and left. I would not recommend going there if you are thirsty, it could be a long wait.

Thanks Margaret for the info. I haven’t been back since my last visit.

    Hi Mai and Margaret,
We value your feedback. I am sorry you appeared to have waited for so long. This is not our usual standard of service as we try to ensure everyone has a lovely time when they visit us.We have put measures in place to ensure that this does not happen on busy weekends. And we have made sure we have more than enough sample glasses. I hope you enjoyed the beer! Please check out our website for our lovely new winter menu and some more great hancrafted beers.
