Business Trip to Milan, Italy

Duomo, Milan

I had a quick business day trip to Milan, Italy and managed to walk around the town for 1 hour. Milan is like any other major big cities in the world with a population around 1.27 millions. It is a great city to shop. It is home to major fashion design such as Prada. Milan is also the fashion capital of Italy as the major fashion shows are held here. I managed to work my credit card hard stocking up on some winter clothing that I can wear back home in Australia, just in time for the cold weather. We headed straight to Golden Quad. The Golden Quad is the area around Via della Spiga, Via Sant’ Andrea, Via Monte Napoleone and Via Alessandro Manzoni.

Although most of my time was spent shopping, I managed to visit Milan’s famous landmark of Duomo (Piazza del Duomo). This has to be one of the largest Gothic Cathedral I have ever seen (probably World’s largest). It was built in 1386 and took 600 years later to complete! The design is French Gothic. It is an amazing church eventhough I have lost counts of the numbers of church I visited in Europe. The Milan Duomo is definetely stood up on its own. You could climb to the roof either via stairs or elevator to get a lovely city view. I did not get to do this due to my limited time in the city.

The other site that I really wanted to go but did not get to go is Leonardo’s da Vinci’s Last Supper painting which is located in the Cenacolo Vinciano (www.cenoacolovinciano.org) at Piazza Santa Maria delle Grazie 2 as it required booking in advanced. In here you can see whether the apostle to Christ’s left is really Mary Magalene as mentioned in Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code.

    Hi Mai Lin
Very enjoyed reading your review of Bistro Guilliame in Melbourne as we are going there tonight. A few points we thought worth mentioning; firstly ratatouille is a peasant not pheasant and we think you mean crockery not cookery. Keep up the good work, we enjoyed reading about your travel, James and Katie

Hi Thanks for the corrections - much appreciated :).

Very glad that you enjoy my travel postings (I had so much more to write still, currently doing a bit of back dated travel postings).

Enjoy Bistro Giulliame and please let me know what you think :). I also like his restaurant in Benelong (Sydney). I’m yet to upload my recent Rockpool Bar & Grill dining and mother’s day lunch at Taxi Dining Room (Coming Soon).
