The Great Ocean Road - One of the many stone formation known as twelve apostles
One of the many questions I get asked most by friends visiting Melbourne is, ‘if they had only one day to visit a place in Melbourne where should they visit’. I tell them they must visit The Great Ocean Road. Why? Because:
- A UNESCO/World Heritage listed site
- Amazing coastal scenery view and lovely drive along the coast
- There is no where in the world you can find anything like this
!
So what’s the fuss about The Great Ocean Road? Picture this, only an 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne, you get to drive the most scenic road in Victoria, passing the endless beaches and the world famous surf beaches of Torquay and Bells Beach (as seen on the movie Point Break). It is also home to surf brands Billabong, Rip Curl & Roxy.
After seeing some of the most beautiful sceneries you will reach the 12 Apostles. The 12 apostles are iconic natural rock formations that tower out of the seas along Victoria’s famous Great Ocean Road. This is a definately a MUST visit. The only thing better than viewing it from the awesome cliffs is to FLY over it. You can do this via a helicopter scenic ride
.
Other things to do on the Great Ocean Road includes rainforest walks & hikes. The walk will take you to many of its spectacular waterfalls! In Summer, make sure you bring your bathing suit and take a dip of the fresh water
.
Make sure you visit The Great Ocean Road when you are in Melbourne

Technically its now the 7 apostles as a recent one just collasped =(
Apparently, I was told that the original people (a couple) witnessed the collapsed but they didn’t want to move forward and claim the sightings. This is because they’re having an affair
. They both took a sickie off work and did a romantic get away. Anyhow, the story was told by the locals not sure how credible though…hehhee…still make a good story to tell
