Mai (middle) with Bostonians :)
You know every time I have to go to Boston for work I always get excited. Its one of those places where I continue to find new places to visit or things to do even though I have been many times before. I think the reason I like Boston so much is because, along with San Francisco, it is very similar to Melbourne (Australia).
Boston is a similar size to Melbourne with population of approximately 3 million. The weather during summer is more humid though and winter is really really cold (especially the wind not to mention the snow :)). Boston is the capital of Massachusetts which is one of the states that make up New England. The other states are Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire. New England is where you can visit the famous colourful Autumn Leaves where the changing colour of leaves during Autumn decorate the states - simply beautiful. Not to mention those New England style houses….hmm..
Boston city consists of many neighbourhood, up to 21 of them. Some of them are Back Bay, South End, Financial District, Beacon Hill, Chinatown and more. All these neighbourhood are within walking distance.
Here are things to see and do while you’re in Boston (other than walking around the city of course :)) :
- Do a Whale Watching at Boston Harbour
- Hang out at Boston Common Park
- Visit Quincy Market
- Watch a Boston Red Sox in action at Fenway Park (Sports Stadium) or Watch MIT vs Harvard Match
- A day trip to visit Salem Witch Museum (Freaky :))
- A day trip to visit the historic Lexington and Cape Cod
- Hang out at Cambridge to either visit Harvard University or MIT, play chess at Harvard Square, watch a band and hang out at many night clubs/bars.
- Eat Lobster, Clam Chowder, and Boston Pie
One pre-caution about Boston City and its surrounding neighbourhood, they have a curfew on selling and serving alcohol on public places. It ranges from 10pm - midnight. Make sure you check your local curfew to ensure you have stocked up enough alcohol for the night

Boston City (a small chunk of it :))

You can take Trolley Tour - I opted to walk instead :)
The street lights at Beacon Hill are lit up manually and never off
