Happy Weekends!

Living in Sydney is about the weather, the beach and the market!! In Sydney, you get an abundant of growers or farmers market. The ones that I visit often are - the rocks, potts point, and my favourite Pyrmont Growers Market.

Pyrmont Growers market is held on the first Saturday of the month. You can find fresh produces ranging from FRESH flowers, fruits and vegies, cheeses, artisan breads, meats, fish, to home-made jams,  and more .

I have some favourites stalls – sandwich cookie ice cream and the malaysian breakfast roti.  When you buy breakfast roti, you get 2 pieces of  roti prata (Indian/Malaysian flaky roti) filled with homemade kaya jam (or coconut and pandan). The warm of the roti and its flakiness combined with sweet kaya jam is like pea in a pod :) .

Anyhow, I came back with a bunch of stuff from the market.

Mai's shopping from Pyrmont Growers Market

My shopping include mangoes, lychees, corn cobs, wild mushrooms, zucchini flowers, a bunch of coriander, chilli jam, free range eggs (which I managed to get free dozen of eggs), a ginger bread and weekends newspaper.

Now, I just have to work out what I can cook up with the things I’ve just bought :P

Mangoes

I can make a smoothie or grill them with a sprinkle of brown sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice.

Lychees

I can eat them as they are or put them on my lychee flavoured vodka :) – YUM YUM!

Wild Mushrooms

I can pan fry them with garlic and white wine and eat them with crusty sour dough bread.

Zucchini flowers & home made chilli jam

I plan to stuff them with minced prawns and coriander and deep fried them. I will eat my prawns and coriander zucchini flowers with the home-made chilli jam.

Free range eggs

I may use them to make souffle or baking since I have so many of them :) . Alternatively, I may make them into an omellete and eat it with the home-made chilli jam.

Corn Cobs

Grill, steam or boil them then spread some butter and salt and eat them as they are!! :)
