Everyone keeps telling me how expensive food in Sydney is. One of my favourite restaurants, Sakae, is definitely an exception. Sakae is an authentic Japanese, very tasty and very affordable.
When you walk into the restaurant you are immediately greeted with the usual Japanese hospitality. The restaurant is open kitchen and the chefs seem to be very peculiar about their food - which was GREAT :)!
I didn’t have their hot food because it was a really hot in Sydney, but in the past I love their Udons and rice bowl of prawn katsu don (crumbed prawn with onion and egg on rice).
The total bill was AU$20/person including a soft drink each. We ate till we could’nt fit no more :).
Here’s what we had for the night:
- Mixed Sashimi - Fresh and divine

- Sashimi of white fish, tuna and salmon
- Takoyaki - Grilled octopus balls

Takoyaki - Grilled octopus balls
- Agedashi Tofu

Agedashi Tofu
- Cha Soba- Green Tea Flavoured Buckwheat Soba served with clear dipping sauce

Cha soba - green tea flavoured buckwheat noodle with dipping sauce (refereshing for summer)
