I am spending Christmas and New Years in Italy !
I arrived in Rome just in time for dinner and headed straight to the Rome district called Trastevere – here there are many restaurants where locals go. I was very lucky to get a table at one of Rome’s nicest restaurant called Vizi Capitali which is well known as “The Seven Deadly Sins” Restaurant.
Vizi Capitali is called the 7 deadly sins for one reason. The food is divine and tempt you to commit 7 deadly sins
. A local colleague recommended me to take the tasting/degustation menu, this allowed me to sample bits of everything the restuarant had to offer.
First of all, I would highly recommend you make booking (way in advanced) as it is really hard to get a table here. Secondly, make sure you come early (no earlier than 9 pm as the Roman don’t eat before 9pm) but early enough so that you make your 9pm reservation as the restaurant is hidden and a little tricky to find. Thirdly, make use of any Italian you have, I made the reservation by using broken Italian which I learnt back in highschool
.
There are 4 courses at the Degustation Menu – I chose to have the Seafood Menu instead of the Meat version. The tasting menu costs 60 euros and I paid an extra 30 euros for a bottle of Pinot Grigio.
The first course is an antipasti of cuttle fish with olives, buffalo mozarella cheese, bruschetta with cheese and anchovies, parma ham, crayfish in cocktail sauce with a drizzle of a really good olive oil.

Antipasti or appetissers to wet appetite
The second course was prawns and pasta with basil pesto sauce. Simple, fresh and divine.

Prawns and Pasta with basil pesto sauce
The third course was lemon fish served with potatoes

Lemon Fish for main course
Last but not least, dessert! Who would’ve thought Lemon Sorbet and Chocolate mousse work wonder together!

Double dessert - a great combination of lemon sorbet and chocolate mousse

A bottle of local Pinot Grigio - a perfect white wine for seafood dishes
