There are many churches in Rome. The most well known churches include Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli and Santa Maria in Cosmedin.

Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli is located at Piazza San Pietro in Vincoli which is just off Via Cavour. It host Michelangelo’s statue of Moses and his unfinished statues of Leah and Rachel, as well as the chains worn by St Peter during his imprisonment before being crucified.

Santa Maria in Cosmedin

The church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin located at Via del Circo Massimo is a nice miedieval church in Rome. It has a seven-story bell tower and cosmatesque inlaid marble interior decoration and a really nice floor.

However, the reason for my visit here is its Bocca della Verita (Mouth Of Truth) as shown in Audrey Hepburn’s movie of The Roman Holiday. Bocca della Verita (Mouth of Truth) is located at the entrance of the church. The legend says that if you put your right hand into the ceramic mouth and tell a lie, it will snap shut. I road tested it and because I did not lie, it did not shut ;-) .
