Mai in front of Trevi Fountain

Rome’s most beautiful fountain has to be Fontana di Trevi or known as Trevi Fountain. The name refers to the three roads (tre vie). The high- baroque style faountain was designed by Nicola Salvi in 1732.  Its water is supplied by one of Rome’s earliest aqueducts.

If you are visiting the fountain, make sure you follow the custom of throwing a coin into the fountain over your shoulder while facing away. This will ensure your return to Rome. A second coin grants a wish.
