I was sleeping over at a friend places last night (after a huge party the night before :P) and after feeling hungrier than usual she suggested that we head off to Sugardough, a cute little cafe, to grab some coffee and brunch. Great idea!

Sugardough Panificio & Patisserie is located in Brunswick East and similar to my years of friendship with my friend, this cafe has been here for a very long time. It was originally run by an Italian lady and throughout the years this shop was acquired a couple times. However, unlike most places where the quality goes with the new owners, Sugardough actually gets better and better.

The first stop to the cafe is for you to reserve your seat then go to the front counter to order and let them know where you sit or intend to sit.

There are a lot of take out business, however, sitting down very closed to each other is also part of experiencing Sugardough cafe. You are surrounded by a long line of people queueing, smells of freshly baked bread and the mountaneous amount of cakes, sweets and pastries. There are a couple of outdoor seats reserved for dogs lover complete with a dog water bowl.

Donuts (custards or berries jam) and Italian Croissants which are a must haves if you like to taste the history of the cafe. Of course a cafe won’t be complete without espresso and coffees. You won’t be disappointed and you will most likely be walking out with bags of pastries – guaranteed :) .

Other things to order includes extra thick hot chocolate, soups of the day, various pies, pasties and sandwiches.

The best way to get here is by public transport, catch tram number 22 or 8 from the city towards Lygon St or Moreland and get off at the Glenylon street and lygon street intersection. As you get off the tram, the cafe is right in front of the tram stop. Convinient!

Here are some of the goodies my friend and I had for our brunch -
